PURA VIDA….”Pure Life” The law of the land in Costa Rica they say. The expression is used in many forms, from a greeting, to a synonym for “excellent.”  Ticos follow this lifestyle and are some of the most wonderful people on earth.

I have been blessed to have the opportunity to visit this beautiful country.  In all honesty, my husband and I were looking for a special place to celebrate our Tenth anniversary.  Since this occasion is in September, I found myself searching for somewhere outside of the reach of tropical storms that are so typical at this time of the year.  Costa Rica seemed to be ideal for our plans to celebrate our years together and to pursue our commitment to life and our future together.  Little did I realize the impact that this trip, together with changes in my health, would have on my life.

I have Type 1 Diabetes.  I have struggled with acceptance of this fact for many years.  I have gone to classes which were meant to teach me the facts according to the American Diabetes Association.  I have read books, magazines, diet plans and subscribed to some of the ideas but never gained the control of this disease or my health.

The summer before our trip I had some problems with my eyesight that quite literally “opened my eyes” to what could be a scary and troubled life ahead if I didn’t find the answers and change my way of life as a diabetic.  I continued to search and “google” trying to find something and I wasn’t quite sure what it was.  Somewhere in there I found a YOUTUBE video of Dr. Richard Bernstein.  It led me to purchase his book “Diabetes Solution”.

I immersed myself in the book.  I could not believe the amount of information I was learning.  Not just DO THIS not THAT kind of information, but details of what was happening inside my body.  I was an instant fan of Dr. Bernstein and began to feel better about how I could take control of this disease and make changes that would restore my health.

And then, it was time for our amazing anniversary trip…so I put the book aside for a week.  (That week was especially important, because I was sharing it with my husband…a true KEEPER in my life)It was a new beginning…

WELCOME to my site, FOUND N A T U R A L L – a place I hope to share my “findings” and all the “keepers” along the way.
